(October 25th, 2005) Lillian
is rocking and rolling
this fall! She is walking without her walker and doing a wonderful
job. She just started doing aquatic therapy with her physical
therapist, Melissa. They are having fun learning how to
jump. Lillian continues to make wonderful progress in Physical Therapy! She has therapy twice a week at this time with one of those sessions being aquatic therapy... in the pool! In the clinic, Lillian continues to improve her balance and coordination with walking. We are also working on jumping and stepping up/over steps without needing her hands for support. In the pool, Lillian also works on her jumps as well as improved balance with squatting and improved coordination with kicking. Lillian's overall trunk balance and strength has improved greatly in the past few months, which has 'cleaned up' her walking a lot and allows her to walk for unlimited distances. Lillian and I have a lot of fun with therapy - she is a joy to work with and our entire clinic continues to be so proud of how far she has come! ~ Melissa Bayne
An exciting discovery this month is the medical study Lillian was involved with at birth! The results are in, and Lillian once again proves to be a miracle. To read about the study and hear Donnie's radio interview, go to KUHF's NPR story. To read the New England Journal of Medicine's Abstract on the study, go to NEJM. If you want to see our TV interview which, as of today, has not aired, please e-mail me at sally@lillianclar.com and I will e-mail you with the date and the time of that interview. It will also be available on the web after it is aired. Through the release of the study, we were reminded again of how crazy it was when she was born.We are so excited to share the miracles in our daughter's life with others, especially with a greatful heart for all of those who prayed for her during our early struggle. How awesome is it when God chooses to show us His hand in our lives. Lillian just started preschool with her sisters and brother teaching her the alphabet. They are all so cute sitting around her as she glues beans to a piece of paper with an "upper case A and lower case A" on it. As we look upon her progress, let's not forget where she came from, and let's look forward to her future (boy, we need to get on that MCAT studying!!).
